The Standardized Equipment List (SEL) is provided to the responder community by the InterAgency Board for Equipment Standardization and Interoperability (IAB). The SEL has traditionally contained a list of generic equipment recommended by the IAB to local, state, and federal government organizations preparing for and responding to all chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) events. This edition continues the transition to a broader "all-hazards" SEL, while maintaining an emphasis on CBRNE events.
The SEL is a guideline, and its use is voluntary. The SEL promotes interoperability and standardization across the response community at the local, state, and federal levels by offering a standard reference and a common set of terminology. The IAB does not assume any liability for the performance of equipment items mentioned in the SEL.
The SEL is issued in printed form each year with the IAB Annual Report. For hard copies of the Annual Report and SEL, please contact the IAB Program Office at firstname.lastname@example.org.

NOTE: The SEL has traditionally been published as part of the IAB's Annual Report. In previous years, the SEL's year corresponded with the year of the Annual Report. Since Annual Reports are published after the close of the calendar year, the year created some confusion. To avoid any further confusion, the SEL year is current with the year in which was developed. Therefore, the 2009 SEL has been published with the 2008 Annual Report.
The 2009 SEL is the most current SEL produced by the IAB.
